Wanted to give you some updates:
I started EMDR therapy. I’m hopeful it will help me let go of some of the heavy stuff from my past.
I’m trying out an anti-depressant medication. It’s been two weeks now, and I’m happy to report minimal side effects. I look forward to seeing how it will help me in the long run.
I had a great time writing poems last month. I also wrote three more during the May Poetry Xfit session. I’m definitely looking forward to the next one.
Speaking of writing, I’ll be holding myself accountable for doing wellness writing every day in June through a new Roots. Wounds. Words. group. I picked the genre of wellness writing to help me get back into regular journaling.
I won a book giveaway courtesy of Writing the Layers, so I am the proud owner of Let it Go: Free Yourself from Old Beliefs and Find a New Path to Joy by Chelene Knight. She divides this work into seasons, and the first quarter just happens to be Spring! I’m loving the gentle power of her writing style.
As someone who still physically masks in public places and outdoors (allergies) and works virtually, I’m so grateful to have stumbled upon so very virtual, a Substack that lists virtual events and online opportunities. This also allows me to connect with others who share the same COVID/illness-safe practices. So far, I’ve signed up for at least two writers workshops, a slow stretch session, and a talk with disabled artists.
Pride Month is approaching. Future queerness loading in my next post. I’ll be celebrating the 7th anniversary of my chapbook release.
Awesome wins for May...there is so much good to see if we are just open to see the beauty lying beneath the surface <3
